When it comes to the mess, we all have different tolerance levels of managing them, and in fact, there may be nothing messier than doing art and craft with our kids. Many parents have to struggle with the idea of doing art and craft with their kids because they don’t like the mess! So today, I would like to share here five tips to help you manage and minimize the mess of art and craft with your kids. Remember that making art and craft is such an important part of a child’s development, therefore, it is really worth the effort.

  1. WISELY CHOOSE YOUR CREATIVE TIME

Whether it is the first thing to do in the morning or right after naptime, you should plan the time for creative activities when everyone is fresh and relaxed. Set up the activities before involving your kids so that they don’t have to wait around, touching things before you are ready. Setting up a simple and non-messy craft activity the night before for preschoolers or older children to discover in the morning is an excellent way to accomplish the goal of arranging a regular creative time.

  1. CAREFULLY CHOOSE YOUR CREATIVE SPACE

You should also carefully consider the space to use for creative activities with your children. Art making doesn’t always have to happen inside. Actually, we do most of ours outside, maybe on an easel underneath the patio or at our outdoor table. If you are limited to having suitable inside space, choose a place where there is a lot of space around your kids so that they don’t touch the walls or other furniture with their messy hands. Also, consider the flooring in your chosen space. It is much easier to clean up paint and play dough off vinyl or tiles than off carpet.
